The Bahrain Diabetes Society was founded in 1989 as a nonprofit civil organization affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In 1992, the Society joined the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), becoming part of a global network of more than 240 societies in 160 countries.
Over more than 35 years, the Society has grown from a small initiative into a comprehensive system serving thousands of individuals every year through screening, education, and psychosocial support programs.
